Almost every country in the world has a tradition of clay vessel making, and when I travel I search for people and places that are involved in ceramic art and craft, and visit the museums which are the repositories of ceramic objects that speak to human activity and survival over the centuries. Clay is a transformative material that starts as mud and turns to stone; the original advanced technology that contributed to the shift from hunter-gatherer societies to agrarian ones. I love to explore the differences and similarities of forms and pattern in functional and ritual objects made of clay.
